Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 170 grams of unsalted butter, softened
  • 150 grams of granulated sugar
  • 150 grams of light brown sugar
  • 5 grams of vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg + 1 extra egg yolk
  • 270 grams of all-purpose flour
  • 5 grams of baking soda
  • 1.5 grams of baking powder
  • 4 grams of sea salt
  • 200 grams of chocolate chips

Yields 24 cookies

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Cream butter and sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

  4. Add egg, extra yolk, and vanilla; mix until well combined.

  5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined.

  6. Fold in chocolate chips.

  7. Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. (This helps prevent spreading and makes fluffier cookies.)

  8. Scoop about 2 tbsp of dough per cookie, spacing them 2 inches apart on baking sheets.

  9. Bake at 375°F for 9-11 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.

  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
